Dell EMC hosted its flagship Dell EMC Forum at the Four Seasons Hotel in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia today. Following Dell Technologies’ first anniversary celebration as the world’s largest privately-controlled technology company, Dell EMC demonstrated its unparalleled strength from the edge to the core to the cloud, aimed at facilitating the economic directives of Vision 2030 for the betterment of the people and community across the Kingdom.

At this one-day event, Mohammed Amin, Senior Vice President, Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Dell EMC discussed the importance of fostering public-private partnerships and increasing the employment rate to advance the national vision. In addition, addressing Information Technology as an enabler, facilitator and accelerator of the transformation envisioned by Vision 2030, he outlined the heightened need to adopt new technologies and most importantly, invest in new skillsets to drive the vision for the Kingdom’s digital future.

Recent findings of a survey conducted by Dell Technologies, across 16 countries and 12 industries including the UAE and Saudi Arabia, indicate that only a small minority (4%) of organizations surveyed have implemented digital transformation initiatives and can be deemed as digital leaders.  This points to a bigger issue – although digital transformation is central to meet the regional digital agenda, it is not yet a strategic pillar to many organizations across the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

In light of the above, the agenda for Dell EMC Forum 2017 is strategically aligned to its theme – ‘Making 2030 Real’. From sessions on driving IT Transformation with Dell EMC Ready Solutions to Workforce and Security transformation and highlighting the power of DELL EMC Internet of Things Strategy, the forum addresses key areas of improvement across various core sectors in Saudi Arabia. The forum acts as a perfect platform to enable organizations to resolve pressing business and IT challenges in the public, financial services, energy, education, and SME sectors through the adoption of advanced technologies and power the Kingdom as a technology-driven economy.

Eng. Ahmed Alreshoodi, Director of Infrastructure and Operation department, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Saudi Arabia: “As one of the cornerstones of the economy, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Saudi Arabia continues to drive its efforts towards ensuring the whole technology infrastructure is aligned with the broader vision of the leadership.  With our services becoming data-driven, we must constantly innovate to not only cater to the digital citizen but also to make great strides in building our digital economy.  To this end, our strategic partnership with Dell EMC allows us to extend our capabilities as a Ministry and strengthen our investments to create thriving environment that promises a higher quality of life and a sustainable future for the Kingdom.”

At Umm Al-Qura, we believe in creating a transformative environment that attracts talent which resonates with the objective of bridging the skills gap and training students for the jobs of tomorrow as per Vision 2030. To this end, continuing with our longstanding relationship with Dell EMC and as part of their Academic Alliance Program, we were able to transform the technology experience of our students through hyper converged infrastructure and a modern data centre. These solutions enable us to ensure easy management of student registrations and round the clock access to data.”

Ghazi Sabri Shtaiwi, IT Department Head, Dallah Hospital: “As one of the critical building blocks of Vision 2030, we envisage improving the efficiency and effectiveness of the healthcare sector, on par with international standards. Mohamed Talaat, Vice President, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Libya and Levant at Dell EMC “We know that digitization is critical to realize the directives of Vision 2030, which has initiated a new wave of enterprising opportunities for the Kingdom. “To this end, it is imperative for organizations in the Kingdom to make digitization central to their business strategies, which is essential in achieving the larger objective of our ambitious vision, that is, to drive innovation and sustainable economic growth. Only then can the Kingdom create an environment that fosters talent, high levels of innovation and ensures betterment of our people and community.”
