Bulgaria's first and only female head of government, Reneta Indzhova, who served as caretaker prime minister from October 1994 to January 1995, received the highest honour at the Women Leaders Awards 2025, the organizers from the Global Media Group and VIP Communication said on March 13.
Among those who presented the awards to the winners were National Assembly Civic Engagement Committee Chair Rositsa Kirova and Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Tsvetan Simeonov.
Elena Baltadzhieva, Mayor of the seaside Municipality of Kavarna, was honoured as a leader in the development of a local administration. Iva Valcheva, Mayor of the southern Municipality of Hissarya, was awarded for her work as the leader of a municipal administration. Maria Belcheva, Mayor of the southern Municipality of Kuklen, was honoured for best local administration practices.
The best business award went to Elena Pandeva, owner and CEO of the Elena Luka Group in North Macedonia, which operates in fashion, construction and the media.
