(WTNH) — News 8 sits down with Michelle and Karl Hespeler from Connecticut Advocates for Parkinson’s to talk about an upcoming Gala in Plantsville to raise money and awareness for Parkinson’s Disease.
The money raised will go towards wellness programs and support groups across the state.
There are four support groups in Connecticut for people with Parkinson’s, in Glastonbury, Southbury, Branford and Old Saybrook.
The issue of Parkinson’s disease hits close to home for both Michelle and Karl.
Michelle was diagnosed with Parkinson’s when she was 40 years old. She says dealing with the disease is a struggle as a working mother, but she is tackling it head-on.
The goal for the gala is to raise $100,000. Nearly 500 people are expected to attend.
The event kicks off at 6 p.m. on November 18th at the Aqua Turf Club in Plantsville. It runs until 11:30 p.m.
