WMUR is partnering with the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Friday for the 6th Annual Play Ball! for CHaD game to benefit Children's Hospital at Dartmouth-Hitchcock.Families, baseball fans and CHaD supporters are welcome!WHEN?The game is Friday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. The Fisher Cats are taking on the Hartford Yard Goats.TICKETSTickets start at $6 and may be purchased at nhfishercats.com or at the box office.ACTIVITIESThis year, fans can turn the tables on some of your favorite folks from WMUR by interviewing them on camera. You might even end up in a TV commercial!WMUR's Erin Fehlau and Sean McDonald will join patients and their families in throwing out the first pitch at the game!There will also be fireworks by Atlas after the game!HOW CAN I HELP?Fifty percent of ticket sales will be donated directly to CHaD.WHERE DOES MY MONEY GO?CHaD is imagining a healthier future for ALL children, not just their patients and has programs that promote health, wellness and prevent injuries which would not be possible without philanthropy. The hospital wants to help all kids be healthy and safe.CHaD is committed to providing exceptional patient care, training new generations of pediatric healthcare providers, pioneering major research initiatives, and serving our community's families.The hospital sees all patients regardless of their ability or inability to pay. CHaD cares, and is committed to healthier futures for all children.Programs that are funded as a result of philanthropy include:-- Face of Child -- a program that is unique in Northern New England in that it is a full service, comprehensive craniofacial program providing evaluation and care for all varieties of craniofacial anomalies.-- Child Advocacy and Protection Program -- created to help evaluate and treat suspected victims of child maltreatment and abuse-- Child Life Specialists -- a team that works with doctors and nurses and go above and beyond in caring for our patients by providing developmental stimulation, support during stressful times, and advocacy for the children’s emotional and psychological needs.-- Molly’s Place -- The CHaD Family Center was created by families, for families. The center is funded entirely through generous donations.-- CHaD, like most children’s hospitals, relies on philanthropy to sustain and grow its services. Despite our efficiency and cost conscience efforts, CHaD loses over $20 million annually due to low Medicaid reimbursement rates. Overall, CHaD has a significant net loss annually.-- Caring for kids costs more than caring for adults, and in general we are reimbursed less. One size does not fit all. The medical equipment needed to care for a preemie that is less than a pound is much different what is needed for a 6-, 12- or 18-year-old.-- Fundraising and philanthropy help fund child and family friendly environments, colorful patient rooms, specialized teaching toys that are also practical for a child that may need to stay in bed, books, games, and more!-- Fundraising supports the Child Life Specialists wish list with items that are not covered by insurance dollars.FOR MORE INFORMATIONCHaD: http://www.chadkids.org/Play Ball!
