CHICOPEE, Mass. (WWLP) – The COVID-19 pandemic brought many social issues to the public’s view, including the importance of women and girls in the workplace and home.

Many women stayed home to take care of children and supervise their online schooling. Some were living in domestic abuse situations and felt trapped, with nowhere to turn.

Young girls and teens today are facing more social pressures and can be influenced by negative images and messages on social media and issues in the home and at school.

This week on 22News InFocus we’ll be talking with representatives from the YWCA of Western Massachusetts and Girls Inc. of the Valley, organizations that provide programs and services for thousands of women and girls, from housing and education to self-sufficiency to health and wellness opportunities.

Watch 22News InFocus on Sunday at noon. If you miss any of the programs, you can find it on our website at WWLP.com.
